In a news conference, PM Edi Rama has reacted to the requests made by the Albanian professional football league clubs. Although he was open to some of the requests made by representatives of these clubs, Rama said that the ways that the heads of these clubs have chosen to exert pressure would not be tolerated by his government.

“Of course there will be an initial reduction, of course there will be a 6% VAT for investments in sport, for investments in fields and stadiums, but we cannot tolerate some businesspeople dressed in football uniforms who believe they can play with the government,” the PM said.

According to the head of the government, the boycott that professional league clubs have decided to do is absurd.

“I’m surprised they haven’t learned that the language of boycott and blackmail does not work with me. Why have they chosen boycott to attain their objectives”, the PM said.

Meanwhile, all professional football league clubs have decided to boycott matches until the government decides to meet their demands, which are mainly financially related. TemA
